Post-renovation or deep cleaning in BC?

The size of the renovation is not the deciding factor. A small project can spread dust into adjoining rooms; an older home with no recent building work may simply need a Deep Clean. Tell the cleaning company what was done and what remains, rather than choosing the package with the more intensive-sounding name.

What each service is for

Deep Cleaning for household buildup

A bathroom with accumulated soap residue, dusty baseboards and marked door frames is a household-cleaning job when there is no renovation residue to deal with. NearMe’s Deep Cleaning adds detail to the Standard checklist, including baseboards, door frames and other safely reachable areas.

For example, if you replaced furniture without cutting, sanding or installation residue, the home does not automatically need Post-Construction Cleaning. Choose the household checklist that matches its condition.

Post Construction Cleaning after completed work

A kitchen renovation can leave dust on cabinet faces, counters, nearby ledges and floors after the installers have left. NearMe’s Post-Construction Cleaning addresses ordinary renovation dust and suitable residue on safe, finished surfaces, with the work and price confirmed for the property.

Describe anything beyond loose dust: adhesive, protective film, grout haze or paint marks. Do not assume all residues can be removed from every surface or are included in the quote. New finishes may have specific care instructions; NearMe’s ordinary cleaning service does not include paint removal.

Resolve unfinished work before the final clean

If a contractor is returning to sand walls or cut materials in the area, that work can leave the cleaned surfaces dusty again. Agree which areas are finished, which still need work and when the contractor will remove tools and heavy debris.

Unknown dust or suspected hazardous material is not something to identify by its colour or by wiping it with a cloth. Ask the contractor or an appropriately qualified specialist to assess it before ordinary cleaning. Health Canada recommends professional assessment where asbestos is suspected and warns against disturbing it yourself. See its renovation safety guidance.

Confirm the handoff before booking the date

Ask your contractor these four questions before agreeing a final-cleaning appointment:

• Is all cutting, sanding and dust-producing work finished in the areas to be cleaned?
• Will tools, sharp offcuts, heavy debris and construction waste be removed first?
• Are access, lighting, water and the finished surfaces ready for cleaning?
• Are there material concerns, fresh coatings or manufacturer care instructions the cleaning company needs to know about?

There is no single waiting period that fits every renovation. A coating’s curing instructions, unfinished work and the condition of the site matter more than counting a fixed number of days. Confirm the clean after the final dusty work and before furniture delivery where practical. If belongings are already in place, explain what is accessible and what must stay untouched.

For a Vancouver condo or apartment, also confirm any building access, elevator or parking arrangements that apply. Do not assume the cleaning team can use the contractor’s access arrangements after the contractor leaves.

Send a useful project description

“Two-bedroom home, deep clean please” can leave out the very detail that changes the service. Use this outline when you contact NearMe:

• Work completed: which rooms were renovated and what was installed or altered.
• Areas needing cleaning: approximate size, affected adjoining rooms and whether furniture is present.
• What remains: ordinary dust, specific residue, and any unfinished contractor work.
• Surface care: new flooring, tile, glass or cabinetry, plus any supplied care instructions.
• Site readiness and timing: debris removal, safe access, contractor finish date and planned move-in or delivery.

For example: “Our kitchen installation is finished. Dust has also reached the adjoining dining area. Cabinet faces and floors need cleaning; the installer is returning to address adhesive on the window frame. We need cleaning after that visit, before the dining furniture arrives.”

Include planned contractor return visits so the cleaning can be scheduled around the work still to come.

Check the extras as well as the service name

A more detailed package does not mean every task is included. These remain selectable add-ons with every NearMe cleaning type:

• Inside the refrigerator and inside the oven.
• Inside cabinets and drawers.
• Interior windows and tracks.
• Blinds.
• Reachable interior wall spot-cleaning.

If newly installed cabinet interiors or interior windows need attention, include them in the request. Review the cleaning checklist and the confirmed project scope together. Ordinary surface cleaning is also separate from duct cleaning, hazardous-material remediation and heavy-debris hauling.

Choose the clean for what is actually left

For everyday household buildup, use Deep Cleaning. For ordinary dust and suitable residue left by completed renovation work, discuss Post-Construction Cleaning. Where trades, debris or material concerns remain, resolve those first so the final clean can achieve its purpose.
